PICAXE chips are programmed directly from the computer. No programmer box is required. Once the chip is built into the circuit, it need not be handled again.

    8-pin chip. 5 pins are configurable as inputs or outputs (at least one of each). 1 input can be analogue. Does not support the use of Interrupts or Infrared commands.
